There are many reasons people choose to gamble from fun to addiction and probably every other reason inbetween. Everyone has their own reasons and each person will see gambling it in a different way. It is usually seen as a negative pursuit because of the high levels of addiction associated with it. People are aware of the label ‘gambler’ and do not want to be associated with it. If it is used as a way of escaping a particular problem then there is a higher chance of becoming addicted.
So can there be any hidden positives of gambling?
The answer is Yes and one of the reasons why is that the gambling industry provides a lot of employment for a lot of people globally. Another positive is the entertainment aspect of gambling, it does provide fun for a lot of people as a form of entertainment. This recreational pastime can even have health benefits for some as it is therapeutic and can help to keep the mind alert.
Finally, gambling is often used as a way of fundraising for charities and special causes. Schools and churches can use gambling in creative ways to collect funds. The money raised is good for the cause or charity and also gives a feel good factor to the donating player. They are gambling but they know that some of the money will go to a charity and so they are gambling for fun and also to help a good cause.
This kind of gambling, like Bingo or a raffle, does not seem to portray the same negative image as casino gambling.
